Since its establishment in 2002–03, Gopal Gaushala Patiala has become a place of safety for abandoned, injured, and elderly cows. Every animal that arrives has a different story, but with proper care, regular feeding, and medical attention, many have found a second chance. The support of volunteers, donors, and well-wishers has made these positive outcomes possible.
Rescue Stories That Inspire
Many cows brought to the gaushala were found wandering on busy roads, where they faced the risk of traffic accidents and hunger. Some were abandoned because of old age or illness, while others had suffered injuries. After being rescued, they received shelter, clean water, nutritious fodder, and veterinary care. Over time, many recovered and now live in a peaceful and protected environment.
The gaushala has also supported efforts to reduce the number of stray cattle on city roads by providing a safe home for rescued cows. This has helped improve the welfare of the animals while contributing to safer roads for the community.
Recovery After Injury
Several cows have arrived with wounds, weakness, or health problems that required continuous attention. With timely treatment, proper nutrition, and daily care from dedicated staff, many of these animals gradually regained their strength. Watching a weak and injured cow recover and live comfortably is one of the most rewarding parts of the gaushala’s work.
The Difference Donors Make
Every donation, whether large or small, helps provide fodder, medicines, clean drinking water, and shelter for the cows. The generous contribution of the late Shri Lal Singh during the early years helped strengthen the gaushala’s facilities, while the continued support of local families and devotees has allowed daily care to continue without interruption.
Many supporters visit the gaushala regularly and feel encouraged when they see healthy cows receiving proper care. Their continued trust has helped the gaushala serve hundreds of animals over the years.
