Gopal Gaushala was established in Rishi colony Chaura in year 2002-03. Land measuring approximately 2.70 acre was allocated by Dera Baba Ram Dass ji Chaura wale. Trust was formed for construction of cow sheds, labour quarters, tudi shed and other infrastructure of gaushala. Trust named as Shri Guru Charan Samriti Gopal gau sadan trust could not be registered at that time. Initially there were 15 trustees. Gaushala trustees with help of other gau bhagats from Patiala and adjoining area constructed initial infrastructure and started gaushala.
Initially gau vansh wondering on adjoining roads was brought to this gaushala. Later on Muncipal Corporation, Patiala authorities also sent some gau vansh after capturing these from city roads. It significantly reduced accidents on city roads.
The then Finance Minister late Shri Lal Singh helped in this noble cause by donating Rs 10.00 lakhs to this gaushala.
In year 2022 some more trustees were added and trust got registered from the office of Tehsildar Patiala. As per constitution/trust deed there will be 21 trustees. Head of Dera Baba Ram Dass ji will be life Chairman of the trust. All office bearers are selected/ elected out of trustees of gaushala trust.
After registration of trust exemptions for income tax and eligibility for CSR funds were also obtained. One kirtan Hall constructed by gaushala trustee Shri Sunder Lal Singla was renovated and idols of Shri Krishna and kalki ji were installed by Shri Sunder Lal Singla.
Trust office bearers Gaushala office complex was constructed in year 2022-23. Shed and tanks for making manure was constructed in year 2023-24.
In rainy season, internal rasta of gaushala was not fit for movement. Even rehri filled with gober could not pass through this rasta. Trust appealed cow lovers to donate funds for making pucca rasta. Donors from all over city contributed gor this purpose. In year 2025-26 interlocked tiles were laid in approximate 30,000 sft area for making parikrma of gaushala and parking for vehicles.
This year gaushala trust laid tiles over kirtan Hall. Two sheds were constructed. One shed for chara and another for preparation of meals for bhog ceremony. 6 new ACs of O General brand 2.0 tonne capacity have been installed in Kirtan hall with approximate cost of Rs. 4.00 lakhs.
Future planning:
Gopal gaushala trust has proposed to construct shed of size 120×60 feet to accommodate more cows. Floor level of this shed will be kept 3 feet higher than already constructed sheds so that if flood occurs, cow vansh may be kept in this raised shed Approximate expenditure on this shed will be Rs 72 lakhs. As this trust is eligible to take CSR funds, trust is approaching such organisations which are required to pay such funds as corporate Social Responsibility in the area. Municipal Corporation Patiala will also be approached as new shed will accomodate about 150 stray cow vansh wondering on city roads.
One Generator of 32 kw will be purchased.
